Liked: Fully embraces the silliness of it’s concept in a light-hearted and fun way. Based on a video game I played a lot growing up. The banter between the characters is also fun. Hey, a bunch of monsters beating each other up! Better looking special effects than Avengers: Infinity War. Good pacing, never feels slow.Continue reading “Rampage”

Avengers: Infinity War
What I Liked: [SPOILER] (If you want to read it, just highlight the text to the right) Hey, Red Cool ALIENS reference! What I Disliked: [SPOILER] (If you want to read it, just highlight the text to the right) What a wimpy Spider-Man. [SPOILER] (If you want to read it, just highlight the text to theContinue reading “Avengers: Infinity War”
A Quiet Place
What I Liked: Intense & unrelenting suspense except when giving us small moments to understand our characters. There’s character growth without a bunch of explanatory dialog. Since there’s very little dialog (and it practically a silent movie), most of the movie is visually told. That corn silo scene though. I wish the ALIEN franchise wereContinue reading “A Quiet Place”
Ready Player One
What I Liked: Certain moments in the movie, like the Zemeckis Cube, as well as other moments featuring characters and movie items that touched all my nostalgia bones. The action scenes were a lot of fun. What I Disliked: Read the book years ago, and only mildly enjoyed it. I didn’t really care for overallContinue reading “Ready Player One”
Isle dogs
What I Liked: Wes Anderson’s movies are usually familial dramedies, but this was a genre film; an adventure. Really pushes stop motion techniques and barriers. It’s Kurosawa through Rankin Bass. The music in it really adds to the overall atmosphere. Stop motion Taiko drummers? YES, PLEASE. The plot is quite morbid, and that makes theContinue reading “Isle dogs”
7 Days in Entebbe
What I Liked: The dancing scene at the beginning. [SPOILER ALERT] The editing of the final confrontation with the dancing that was shown at the beginning. Superimposed titles. the end scene contrasted with dancing. Based on real events. Certain characters have very good development. This is based on true events, and the actual military operationContinue reading “7 Days in Entebbe”
Tomb Raider (2018)
What I Liked: The actress did her own stunts. What I Disliked: Slow. Not much “tomb raiding” in a movie called Tomb Raider. The lead actress just didn’t seem right for the role. I disliked it. Jose Zuazua is editor-in-chief of Quick Lunch Break Reviews. He has an associates degree in film production. He’s on Twitter and Instagram.
Death Wish (2018)
What I Liked: Better paced than the original, never feels slow. His profession in this version makes more sense than in the original and even helps progress the story along. It’s nice to see director Eli Roth expand his resume to outside of the horror genre. [SPOILER ALERT] The attack on the family is notContinue reading “Death Wish (2018)”
