Isle dogs

What I Liked:

  • Wes Anderson’s movies are usually familial dramedies, but this was a genre film; an adventure.
  • Really pushes stop motion techniques and barriers.
  • It’s Kurosawa through Rankin Bass.
  • The music in it really adds to the overall atmosphere.
  • Stop motion Taiko drummers? YES, PLEASE.
  • The plot is quite morbid, and that makes the resolution even more satisfying.
  • The movie is half in English but half in Japanese, and the way the Japanese parts gets translated is very clever.
  • The dogs themselves have great personalities and their relationships are fun to witness.
  • The dogs and the other characters grow in very natural and intriguing ways.

What I Disliked:

  • Wes Anderson’s films are usually slow, but the adventure aspect of this kept the plot moving along.

I liked it.
